Strathspeys
strathspey is a Scottish dance tune, often played in 4/4 time, with a unique rhythm that features “scotch snaps” — short, accented notes followed by longer ones. Though it’s more common in Scottish music, it has been adopted into Irish traditions as well. Strathspeys are typically slower than reels and offer a distinct, elegant feel, making them a great addition to any session.
